Tired of grey?
Updated: Nov 23, 2019
Are you craving some color in your home decor? Are you tired of those grey walls?
Picking a paint color can seem like a daunting task. How many shades of blue can there be? How much color do I add? Where do I begin?
You first need to decide what your tolerance for color is. Are you ok with 4 orange walls? Do you want a feature wall? Do you want a splash of that color against your neutral background? Always remember that you are decorating for YOU, not for your neighbors, siblings, or friends. You will have to live with the choices you make.
Secondly, you need to decide on a color. Many things can affect the way a paint color looks in your home. Why does that grey suddenly look blue? Paint colors have undertones which can reveal themselves once they are on your wall. Lighting can also greatly affect your paint color. We always recommend buying a sample of the paint color you choose. Paint it onto a 2 x 2 piece of wood that you can move around. Look at that color morning, noon and night. Place it near a window, in a shaded corner, near the ceiling and close to the floor. Notice how it changes in different light and in different positions. Do you still like it? If you already have a color on your walls that you are unsure about, consider changing out your light bulbs before repainting. Light bulbs also have undertones which can affect your paint color.
